Reflection about: Empowering English teachers to grapple with errors in grammar. By Mei Lin Ho.
Ms. Linares and Class:
The reflection for this week is about the grammatical errors that students make in their writing when they are learning a language. Years ago errors were considered like problems in the learning process, but with this approach that is proposed, errors could be considered like advantages to recognize the significance of errors which occur in their writing. Selinker (1992) explains that errors are indispensable to learners since the making of errors can be regarded as ‘a device the learner uses in order to learn’.
This Approach consist in the classification of errors across identifying, defining a classifying errors, explaining errors and general gains on a personal level. So in this way we can take the opportunity to reinforce the knowledge of rules of the language to learn.
Thanks,
